In the heart of the seaside village of Aci Trezza you can find the Casa del Nespolo Museum, a magical place from where you can “enter” into the pages of the famous Verga’s novel “I Malavoglia”.

The house that hosts the museum is dated back to the first half of the nineteenth century and is the perfect example of houses of fishermen who lived in Aci Trezza at that time. The structure consists of a courtyard and a garden which you can access through a beautiful lava stone arc.

Inside, the house comprises two rooms: one dedicated to the famous movie “The Earth trembles” by Luchino Visconti, that it was filmed in 1947 just in Aci Trezza, it contains testimonies that relate to the movie and its realization, while the second room of the museum, it’s called the “Malavoglia’s Room”, contains findings that attest the pratices and tools used by local fishermen during the nineteenth century, moreover, the museum keep a small collection of letters and photographs made by the famous Sicilian writer Giovanni Verga.
